• REV. William J. (BJ) Nielsen

Pastor BJ grew up in Pigeon Forge, TN and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he met his wife Aimee and has one son, Louis. Following a couple of decades of scientific research in areas of protein science, genomics, genetics, and molecular evolution, he experienced a dramatic call to ministry that led him to Duke Divinity School where he received a Master of Divinity in 2018. BJ returned to Duke Divinity School in 2019 to pursue a Doctor of Ministry degree towards which he is currently in the writing phase.

BJ holds the biblical text as a witness to God’s love through the salvific action of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He holds this biblical witness to be a living text, as much related to our lives as God’s precious children today as during its writing – with life, love, and peace to be found within.

“In peace, all whole, let me lie down and sleep.

For You, LORD, alone, do set me down safely.”

                                                                Psalm 4:9

(trans. Robert Alter, The Book of Psalms. Ask BJ about this text.)
